On Thursday 9 September, Year 6 set off for the annual 'Bushcraft' trip to Cornbury Park. Having been put into tribes prior to arriving, the first day involved each tribe building hand-made shelters, that many decided to sleep under on the Thursday night. They also made a tribe flag and invented their tribe's origins. Friday and Saturday saw boys learning to make traps, enjoying fresh water swimming, building their own fires, being taught the importance of finding food in remote areas and how to camouflage themselves. Interspersed between all of these activities there was ample time for the telling of stories and riddles and for singing songs around the camp fire. Boys enjoyed playing various games in the woods, such as 'Predator' and 'Catch the Lantern', and loved the freshly made food including beef fajitas and pasta bolognese as well as a much appreciated full English breakfast on the Friday morning. All boys thoroughly enjoyed the trip, in spite of some inclement weather on the Friday.
