14 L6 physicists visited the BMW Mini factory in Oxford. It was a fascinating trip to an amazingly Hi Tech, clean and odourless installation – very different from a traditional factory. Almost everything was done by robots. They even have robotic fork lift trucks, powered by capacitors. We saw the cars being welded by robots, before all the fittings were fitted and finally driven out.
