ASP's first big event of the year was the annual training course for the local primary schools making up the Ogden Trust's Abingdon Primary Science Partnership.

This year's topic is Electricity, so a great opportunity for ASP Co-ordinator, Jeremy Thomas, to apply his own subject knowledge to explaining ideas, activities and how to overcome misconceptions in teaching and learning this topic.

The schools in the local Ogden Trust partnership, represented by their science co-ordinators or relevant staff, were Carswell, Caldecott, Thameside, Long Furlong, St Edmund's, St Nicolas, Dunmore, Harwell and Blewbury.

Each school received the free day of training and a substantial set of practical resources to enhance the teaching of electricity topics and scientific enquiry for all KS1 and KS2 pupils. Thomas Reade and Wantage schools will also receive the boxes and training at a later date, and the ASP will also train the schools in the Ogden Trust partnership based at Fairford in Gloucestershire in early October.
