The OA Club regularly supports the School's Career Guidance Programme. We invite OAs to volunteer and help out in any of the following ways:
We are proud of the myriad ways in which OAs support the School’s Career Guidance Programme, particularly for boys entering their GCSE and A Level years, and we encourage OAs to let us know how they might be able to assist.
Abingdon School's Sixth Form Enrichment Programme is designed to give our Sixth Form pupils the opportunity to broaden their horizons and promote intellectual curiosity beyond their A-Level subjects. This is done through a series of lectures, where pupils are able to hear from a variety of in-house and visiting speakers who focus on interesting and thought-provoking academic and cultural topics, as well as some hard-hitting life lessons.
In recent years boys have heard from Professor Andy Kempe, who spoke about the representation of disability in film, Dr Ben Collen, who talked about wildlife in a changing world, and the charity Afrikids, who presented a talk entitled 'thinking differently about aid'.
We are always keen to invite OAs back to the School to share their experiences (either professionally or personally) to inspire today’s Sixth Form. We would be delighted to hear from anybody who would be willing to volunteer to come in and give a talk as part of the ongoing Enrichment Programme. If interested, please contact Michael Triff, Head of Career Guidance, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01235 849129.
