On 27 September, the joint Modern Foreign Languages sixth form society of Abingdon and St Helen's School held their annual dinner. 40 boys from Abingdon enjoyed an informative talk by Jenny Burns from the University of Warwick, who looked at the role of research and teaching in Modern Languages in a contemporary, globalised context and at the urgency to study and work multilingually. The three-course-meal was, as always, excellent and it was clear that the girls and staff at St Helen's had invested much time and effort in organising the event.
