Last weekend the Lower School toured to Reading Hockey Club. Reading is one of the top clubs in the country and regularly competes in Europe and in the hockey premier league. This year Abingdon has seen a fantastic partnership with Reading HC form which allowed the Lower School to experience some top quality coaching and to watch and ball boy at a premier league game.

The day started off with a coaching session from two of the Reading HC 1st XI players, Australian international, Josh Bretherton and Great Britain player Peter Scott. The boys learned new skills and showed huge potential when shooting on the reverse side and dribbling in attack.

After a superb lunch put on by Reading, the boys headed off to take part in some bowling. This proved to be just as competitive as the hockey, with some huge scores over 100 coming in!

Matches vs RHC colts section followed. Abingdon split into an U13 A and U12 A team, both teams showed fantastic fitness, work rate and intensity in the round robin tournament. Both teams winning all their games against the three Reading colts sides!

After the matches the boy were treated to waffles and were lucky enough to watch their coaches and Old Abingdonian Max Carter-Keall play for RHC 1st XI in a great match v Surbiton.

Overall a fantastic day for all!
