The English Department are delighted to announce that author Jason Hewitt will be working with us over the coming year as a writer in residence. During his residency, he will be working with small groups of boys to produce a professionally edited and published 'Abingdon Anthology' - a collection of short stories inspired by Abingdon, and the boys' imaginative take on the school. Jason's first novel, The Dynamite Room, was long-listed for the prestigious Desmond Elliott Prize for New Writing 2014 and his second novel, Devastation Road, will be out in the summer. You can read more about Jason on his website. We are very excited about this opportunity and can't wait for the workshops to begin!
This project has been made possible by donations from parents and alumni to last year's Annual Fund. We are again raising money from parents and alumni for this year's Annual Fund in order to continue the Writer-in-Residence programme next year.
