With the encouragement and a generous financial endowment from a former pupil, David Allen OA, Abingdon School has recently engaged local harp teacher, Jenny Hill, to spearhead the teaching of harp at the school from this September.
Jenny has recently given a harp demonstration to some of our Year 7 pupils and we hope that a handful of young pupils will start tuition shortly, with the plan that regular recruitment, year on year, will result in good numbers of pupils learning the harp at the school.
Last week some of these pupils had the first experience of playing the harp. The opportunities for this fine instrument are many and we hope that, in time, these musicians will be able to contribute to school and youth orchestral work.
