“Guys and Dolls”

11 February 2014

Arguably the finest of all American musicals, this juggernaut production thrilled audiences in a sold-out Yolande Paterson Hall at St Helen's for three nights last week. Its joint cast of 57 senior and middle school pupils from Abingdon and St Helen's - the largest in recent times - caught the elan and joie de vivre of this classic fifties piece in impressive style, thanks in no small part to the direction of Jo Watt (SHSK) and Ben Phillips (Abingdon), and the choreography of OA Toby Marlow. Abingdon's technical managers Nick Lloyd and Alex Cann played an invaluable part in the construction of the large set, only days after their excellent work on the Biggles production.
