Finland Expedition 2015

4 January 2016

19 boys travelled to the Oulanka national park just south of the Arctic Circle on the Russian border for a winter wilderness expedition. After three days of wilderness and winter skills training to prepare them for the extreme conditions of the Finnish winter, the boys headed out into the icy wilds to complete the 25km trek through powder snow in temperatures falling to minus 28 degrees celsius. Staying overnight in a wilderness hut brought some respite from the extreme temperatures however the four teams pulling 20kg sleds were pleased to see the base camp and to relax those aching muscles in the sauna on completion.
