During the past academic year the ASP has delivered and supported the CREST Star science investigator award at seven primary schools in Abingdon as well as at Abingdon Prep School and as far away as the new GEMS primary school in Didcot.

This has resulted in 380 local children obtaining the award, many of them visiting the ASP lab in the Yang Science Centre for a special awards ceremony and science show once their series of eight investigations has been completed.

The final session of this year was for the Year 2 class at St Edmund's RC Primary School accompanied for the third year running by their class teacher Mrs Marzena Wadrzyk. The children were particularly impressed by Mrs Wadrzyk's willing participation in some of the chemistry demonstrations and very excited to receive their CREST Award certificates from our Ogden Trust Teach Physics intern, Gabriel Semple, who is an ex-pupil of their school.

The class also presented the ASP team with a particularly magnificent thank you card, decorated with lab apparatus and with an individual message written by each of the children inside. Although we enjoy our summer holiday at ASP we can't wait to be back in our usual schools next term, working on CREST Awards with new classes of excited and enthusiastic young science investigators.
