Our trip to the National Arboretum was a memorable, somewhat moving experience. The grounds were expansive, and filled with beautiful memorials to a wide variety of our fallen soldiers, from resilient PoW, to those shot at dawn suffering from PTSD, to all the other brave men, young and old, who died serving our country. Our guide was a very welcoming one, and although our tour didn't cover the entirety of the grounds, he was very helpful in explaining how the memorials we did see were significant. I found the Armed Forces memorial particularly fascinating, due to its impressive architecture including a feature that allowed the sun to shine through gaps in the wall at exactly 11 O'clock on the 11th of the 11th, its rays hitting the wreaths in the centre. I was left overall wanting to go back, and explore the grounds further.
