Abingdon Science Partnership Science Ambassadors were up and about early for the ATOM Festival 2018 Science Market. James Hogge and Martin Man helped with setting up the stalls, an essential job in getting the Festival off to an excellent start. Martin returned in the afternoon to dismantle gazebos and put everything away, a particularly impressive commitment. Toby Rowles and John Allen helped to man the ATOM Festival stand during the day, answering questions and selling tickets for the events still to come. They also demonstrated artistic skills in designing signs to advertise the ATOM 'pop-up' events in the community shop. The involvement of Abingdon School in organising and supporting this premier community event in the town is really appreciated by the Festival organisers and the public who attend. Heather Brown, ATOM Festival Manager, commented: 'Please pass on my thanks to the lads you persuaded to come out to help us yesterday. They were brilliant! All of them a credit to the school and themselves in the way they conduct themselves and seem to find a perfect balance between taking instructions and using their initiative. I do hope we can continue to get their help during the rest of the Festival as my muscles are only aching about half as much today as they usually do after an event and I am liking the feeling of not being completely exhausted for once!'

Any boys over 16 who would like to help with remaining ATOM Festival 2018 events, particularly on Saturday 17 March in the Amey Theatre and with the Family Science Fair at the Yang Science Centre on Sunday 18 March, should contact [email protected] as soon as possible.
