ASP Science Ambassadors visited Thomas Reade Primary School to brief the pupils in Mr Mostyn's (OA) class on how to take part in our Royal Society Partnership Grant project, working with Tanesha Allen our science partner at Oxford University.
After a talk from Tanesha about her research on the European Badger population of Wytham Woods, the children were instructed in the use of wildlife camera traps, or trail cameras, by the Science Ambassadors.
They then discussed their ideas for monitoring the wild animals around their school grounds and came up with amazing research questions. For example 'What animal uses the hole burrowed under the school fence?' and 'Which animal spills the rubbish out of the school bins every night?'.
These are genuine questions that nobody knows the answer to, perfect for extending research skills.
