The Abingdon Investment & Trading Club has successfully hosted the Inaugural Equity Research conference, marking the first event of its kind in the school, and the first finance conference at pre-university level in the UK. The event marked the Club’s 18 month anniversary since it was founded by Ilya Korzinkin (U6).
Throughout the evening, seven sector analyst teams competed with each other, presenting stock pitches and industry overview presentations to a panel of six financial industry experts as a culmination of their research work over the last six months. All presentations and financial analyses were highly commended for their complexity and professionalism by the panel.
The Best Presentation award was won by US Telecoms Research Group, headed by Joshua Li (L6), and comprising Eric Zhong (5th), Gavin Lam (5th), Ivan Chan (L6) and Vincent Chen (5th). Ryan Prosser (L6) and Sam Collins (U6) were highly commended as speakers, and Matthew Jarvis (4th) took home the Best Trader award, achieving an impressive 20%+ half-termly return.
The Club thanks Peter Barnshaw (OA), William Nott (OA), Steve Breach, James Bury, Kirill Pyshkin and Sergey Silkin for making up a great judging panel, Mr Windsor and Mr Evans for their continued support, and Mr Triff for organising logistics and catering for the event.
