WEEKLY MAILING

 This week's mailing is:

Letter from the Head (PDF)

Letters:

  • Abingdon Rugby Pre Season 2014 – Details

Notices:

Term Dates 2015/16, Key Dates 2014/15 and next term's calendar

Term dates for 2015/16 have now been published. Term dates, key dates and other important calendar information can be found on the school website.

As you will be aware the School is not printing a hard-copy calendar so parents should refer to the online calendar which is kept regularly up to date. Each week there is a link from the Friday Weekly Mailing to the ' The Week Ahead' which you will find on the top right of the weekly mailing page.  Any amendments to Michaelmas Term 2014 events made after today will be indicated clearly. Parents may wish to consult the online calendar and the term dates page now to remind themselves of the beginnings and ends of each half-term.

End of term reports.

Reports for the remaining year groups (1st to 4th year and L6th) have all been posted to the parent portal.

Summer Reading Recommendations

The English Department has compiled a new list of summer reading recommendations for boys at all levels of the school. It includes a selection ideas of thought-provoking and enjoyable books that we know boys here have tried, tested, and to which they have given their seal of approval. We also include a selection of reading and writing challenges. Ideas for books for future lists and any feedback is always most welcome: please contact Rachel Yarrow, Head of English ([email protected]).

Mouthguard Fittings

Once again, we have organised for the Opro dentists to come in at the start of next term to do the mouthguard fittings. These will take place on Tuesday 2 September with a follow up session on Thursday 4 September. You should be receiving a letter during the holiday with full details of how to order a mouthguard for your son online. Payment will be organised through the school bill. Please ensure you reply to this in good time as late applications have created difficulties in the past”.

Second Hand Uniform Shop

Please view the Michaelmas Term Opening Times for the Second Hand Uniform Shop.

Amey Theatre

As part of the refurbishment plans for the Amey Theatre we have implemented a new online Box Office system. This means that we now have much greater flexibility in the sale and purchasing of tickets. For example we can now offer card payments in person and online. Also available will be the use of proper printed tickets. The option to place tickets on the school account is still available. The only change is that there is a £1 charge to cover the card handling costs, however if you purchase in person and pay by cash then this is not applied.

For the attention of parents of current 3rd years studying French in 4th year: French Exchange

There are 10 places left on the French exchange to Aix en Provence. If your son is interested, please complete the reply slip attached to the letter in last week's mailing and return to Jane Mansfield as soon as possible.
