There have been a very small number of confirmed cases of mumps amongst the boys. This is a viral illness which can be contagious with a 2 week incubation period during which time there may be no presenting symptoms. It is not a serious illness, however, a diagnosis needs to be confirmed by a doctor and if confirmed they should not return to school for a minimum of 5 days. Please could you stress the importance of good hand hygiene to try and prevent any spread of infection.  Boys will be reminded in sectional assemblies.

Reminder to 5th Year and Sixth Form Parents: Abingdon Careers Convention:

The annual Abingdon Independent Schools’ Careers Convention, jointly run by Abingdon School, Our Lady’s Abingdon and St Helen and St Katharine, will be on Friday 17 March 2017, 7pm – 9pm at Abingdon School. The event is compulsory for 5th Year students and optional for L6 and U6 students. Parents are welcome; no booking is necessary. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to gather information about careers of interest and educational routes into those careers. The format of the event is that of a careers fair, with students joining small discussion groups led by career representatives. Concurrent with the career fair will be two panel presentations by experts, one called 'What employers seek: Preparing yourself for the future job market' (focusing on what employers look for when recruiting for entry level roles) and one called 'Emerging careers: New careers you may never have heard of before' (focusing on five emergent industries including Cyber Security, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Renewable Energy, BioTechnology, and Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems).  Please arrive and be seated in the Amey Theatre by 6.45pm for a prompt 7pm start.

Lost property

Property found around the School campus is returned by the cleaners to Lost Property in Boarders' Hall.  From there the housekeeping staff transfer named items to the appropriate boys' houserooms.  Unnamed items are, eventually, given to SUS for sale.
Items found in the Sports Centre are taken to the front desk where the Sports Centre staff keep it.  Items can be collected whenever the desk is manned. Sometimes boys' missing bags are found in other houserooms as boys have picked up another's bag by mistake, so, in this situation, boys are advised to visit the other houserooms.
