Parents of Lower Sixth boys: UCAS2

A reminder that UCAS2 takes place on Friday 1 July 2016 starting at 5.30pm. This is an occasion when boys and/or parents can meet with tutor and subject representatives to discuss university plans. Attendance is not compulsory: boys and parents are free to make use of this opportunity as they wish. Boys will receive further details about arrangements during the week beginning 6 June 2016.

Parents of boys involved in the Abingdon/Fitzharrys partnership drama project

Your son will be taking part in a joint art and drama project after half-term, working with pupils from Fitzharrys School to create a piece of theatre based around some of the issues we have been looking at in PSHCE this year. The boys will be coming to the Amey Theatre at 9am on both Monday 6 and Monday 13 June, and working with pupils from Fitzharrys until the end of the school day at 5pm (there will be lunch provided). They do not need to wear uniform. They will be working with Handprint, an exciting theatre company based in London, who will work with the boys to create a short performance and props, set etc. to be part of the piece. The pupils will then show your work to an audience of parents and teachers at 7pm on the Monday 13 June, and will be free to be collected from 8pm. Supper will be provided in the Dining Hall. Please do come along if you can to see the work the pupils have been doing, and many thanks for your support with this exciting project.

Music

There are a number of music dates after half term and parents are asked to check that they have these in their diaries. They include the following.

Lower School Gala Concert – Thursday 23 June, 6pm, Amey Theatre – This concert will involve the whole of Lower School in a massed choir, together with LS Band, Junior Strings, solo items and much more.

Leavers' Concert – Friday 24 June, 6pm, Amey Theatre –  Last chance to hear our hugely distinguished leavers in one final concert of solos and ensembles chosen, presented and performed by them, alone.

Summer Concert – Wednesday 29 June, 7pm,  Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford – This concert, preceded by farewell drinks for the Head in the nearby Divinity Schools, will feature performances form all the senior choirs, bands and orchestras. Rehearsals have been carefully scheduled in the afternoon and boys and parents will be informed of detailed arrangements after half term. Tickets for the concert need to be ordered in advance from the website but are free of charge.
