To Parents of the Third Year: Sex and Relationships Education Morning
On Saturday 26 June there will be our annual Sex and Relationships Education Morning for all of the third year. The morning is run by a series of Oxfordshire Health Visitors who have extensive experience of delivering the programme. The time is split into 3 sessions. The first two are in small groups and focus on sexual relationships and contraception, and then after break there is a large group session looking at sexually transmitted infections. This morning fits into our third year PSHE topic of 'Sexual Relationship Education' which your sons will have been studying during their Monday period 1 tutor session. We hope your sons will find it an interesting and informative time which addresses this important subject for all adolescents. If you would like any more information about this event then please do not hesitate to contact the head of PSHE, Robin Southwell-Sander, robin.southwellsander@abingdon.org.uk.
Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe - Amey Theatre ("Studio on Stage")
Tuesday 29 & Wednesday 30 June and Thursday 1 July, starting each night at 7.30 pm.
The story of a man who thinks he's reached the pinnacle of all human knowledge so makes the decision to step into the forbidden and, for 24 years of total power and knowledge, he agrees to sell his soul to the devil.
This is an entirely joint production between Abingdon and St Helen's, with equal numbers of girls and boys in the cast, taken from years 9 and 10. It will be an exciting ride, with bangs, smoke and special effects abounding and an unusual central relationship between the male Faustus and his female messenger from the devil, Mephistophilis.
Tickets will be limited by the space available to about 60 per night, so book early.
Venue change for barbecue on Sunday 27 June, 4.30 - 6.30 pm, WAR MEMORIAL FIELD
A reminder that parents are invited to join the barbecue, organised by the OA Club, on Sunday 27 June, 4.30 pm - 6.30 pm, which will now take place on WAR MEMORIAL FIELD.
The event is part of the Abingdon School Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, which will feature three teams of OAs, pupils, parents and staff. The barbecue coincides with the final match of the tournament.
Alun Watkins and Will Phelps will be at the barbecue, which provides a suitable opportunity for everyone to say farewell to them after their 21 and 12 years at Abingdon. I know they are looking forward to meeting those who can be there.
