On Wednesday 25 January Abingdon School hosted Warwick School for their annual swimming meet. This was a great opportunity for the boys to registe race times in a competition and see how well their training has been paying off. Sadly the Abingdon swimming squad was depleted due to illness, injury and other sporting commitments. Without some of the marquee swimmers that have previously represented the school several others stepped onto the blocks in their place. It was a great all round team performance with the whole team rallying around to net a resounding overall victory. Some of the notable performances came from Ben Lovejoy who has been training hard with AVSC recently – he annihilated his previous best on backstroke. Terrance Wei stepping up after a long absence and Chawindhorn Cheevadhanarak battling through an on-going injury. The swimmers should be very proud of all their efforts recently and expectations are high going into next week’s fixture back at Warwick for the Warwick 100s event.
