The U15's were crowned as the Oxfordshire County Cricket Champions after a comfortable victory over Bartholomew's School, Eynsham in the final, having defeated Lord William's School, Thame and MCS on the way.
Several key players, including the captain, were unavailable for the final as the result of injury and a D of E trip, so a number of U14's were drafted into the side and all acquitted themselves well.
After being put into bat, Abingdon posted a competitive total of 120 for 7 from their 20 overs, thanks to a well paced innings from Alex Davies (37), some clean hitting from Rory Garrett (36) and a late flurry from Daniel Scott-Kerr (19).
In reply, some tight bowling at the start soon put the Bartholomew batsmen under pressure and with the required run rate rapidly climbing, the wickets started to tumble. They were finally dismissed for 76 in the final over, with Adam Spears claiming 4 for 17, Daniel Scott-Kerr 2 for 12 and Sam Alexander 2 for 14.
The team now go on to the regional stages of the competition, being hosted at Abingdon on Wednesday 22nd June, against the winners from Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
