Several 3rd years raced in their first official regatta at Thames Valley Park near Reading, alongside 5th years racing in smaller boats. With the A crew having raced at Marlow the day before, it was down to the rest of the squad to show how much they had progressed over the term. There was some close racing, particularly the 5th year pair of Heade and Blackwell, who lost in the final by 2 ft. having during the course of the race hit the bank. The 3rd years racing in the B categories, came up against some strong opposition from schools who had entered their A crews, but gained valuable experience in the smaller boats.
