How to sell your second hand uniform
We take in outgrown good condition uniform. If you have articles you wish to sell please bring them in (i) laundered/dry cleaned, (ii) labelled with the name, address and contact of the person to whom any payment should be made. We have a pricing schedule, and after sale send on 60% of proceeds to the named person on the label. Articles remaining unsold after two years are disposed of, and we use our discretion as to what will sell.
If you know your son has lost articles, remind them to look on the lost property lists. If it is there he needs to come and claim it before the end of term - single items 50p, and entire games bags £2. Things have a chance of getting back to their owners if they are named (!!!), especially glasses cases.
Lost Property
The system has been modified to reunite owners with their named lost property more effectively.
Stage 1: Lost property is sent to 'the cave' which is a housekeeper's storage area off Boarders’ Hall (under School House). Items left on school buses are taken to Lost Property. Lists of the lost property are sent to housemasters weekly, who display the lists in their house rooms. Boys may collect their lost property every morning break from the cave. The charge for property retrieval is 10p per item.
Stage 2: After half a term in the cave, lost property is transferred to SUS shop. Again it is listed and the lists are displayed in house rooms and also in the window of SUS. These items may be collected from SUS during normal opening hours. See the school website or the notice in SUS window for dates. The charge is 50p per item and £2.00 for a complete sports kit in a sports bag.
Stage 2: Lower School - As boys do not attend school on Saturdays, the most common day for SUS opening, lost property of boys in Years 1 and 2 is taken to Mr Jenkins who distributes it. The charge is the same throughout the school.
Stage 3: Items are stored in SUS for half a term. If they remain unclaimed, names tapes are removed and the items go on general sale with all profits going to school funds.
PLEASE NOTE:
- In the light of data protection regulations, the lists cannot be published on the school website. It is up to the boys to check the lists in their house rooms. Parents are welcome to visit SUS to check the lists. SUS volunteers regret that they cannot e-mail parents with details of their sons' lost property as the task would be overwhelming, such is the volume of lost property within the school.
- If you have a common surname, it is not enough simply to use your surname when marking property. Those who compile the lists need to know in which house list items should appear and as you will see from the school lists book, this can be done only, with common names, if initials are provided.
In SUS there is a box of spectacles, pencil cases, calculators and sometimes mobile phones so if your son has lost this type of item, do consider coming to check the contents of the box.
