Reading Town Regatta

25 June 2011

Today the J14 and J15 rowers competed at Reading Town Regatta. The J14s showed great promise in qualifying both their A and B crews for the three-lane final, but sadly a technical problem left the A crew with only seven rowers. They did well, however, to hold the winning Radley crew to only one length.

The J15s, after a quiet start in the morning racing, came out renewed after lunch. The A crew beat Reading Rowing Club and Winchester to win the Novice 8s event, their maiden adult category win, with the B crew competing in coxed fours. The four of Kieran Routledge, Tom Padfield, Heyse Ip and Adam Ashman won their semi-final to put them in a final with the top Radley four and half of the St Edwards A VIII. The Abingdon four won the event after Radley were disqualified to give them a win in the last race of the season.
