This year saw one of the hottest weeks that we have spent in Normandy. Our ferry journey with its late night disco is always entertaining! The usual sleepy cohort of boys soon woke up properly on Monday after a visit to Pegasus Bridge followed by a stop at the goat farm where they could feed, groom and generally cuddle goats. Freddie was this year's milk taster with Charlie getting the certificate for champion milker! The afternoon was spent on the beach and in the sea as it was so hot – one of several sessions to get relief from the heat. Tuesday saw us in Mont St Michel although fewer berets were bought this year. The Alligator Farm gets a brief mention as it was too hot to properly enjoy. Wednesday was Festyland day – my favourite! There was a new ride this year which looked just as scary as some of the more established ones. I'm always happy to watch but not venture on anything! Thursday sees the historical part of the trip with a film in the 360 degree cinema – always a moving experience. This is followed by a tour round the D-Day museum learning about the building of the Mulberry Harbour. Our last day starts with a visit to a French market then on to the Bayeux Tapestry and the lovely cathedral. We then finish our week in Normandy with a visit to the Allied War Cemetery and a run around the bunkers in Pointe du Hoc. As usual, a good time was had by all.
