Year 8 Art

Year 8 Art

1 July 2009

The boys look at the style, subject and specific techniques used in Chinese and Japanese ink paintings. They form their own pictures using black ink on a stark white background and then move to colour. Still life drawing skills are developed through charcoal, pastels, pencils, watercolours and pens. The boys are encouraged to look at perspective, tone, colour, contrast, size, shadows and highlights, among other points. A set of workshops begin with card printing blocks and mono printing. The next stages add colour in a variety of media. As the subject develops into a unique interpretation of the original print. The culmination of this work is in a day long workshop using perspex print blocks and a printing press to produce our Artweeks exhibition in the summer term.
