Year 3 CDT

3cdt (10)

04 July 2011

Year 3 is the first year that the boys are timetabled for a weekly double lesson in the CDT Workroom. This in itself is an exciting event being surrounded by tools, vices and work benches. Time is spent learning to use simple hand tools accurately and safely, making mobiles, wooden photograph frames, marble runs and pneumatic monsters. A study of light enables the boys to be creative, designing kaleidoscopes and producing a textured mirror. The boys produce some outstanding textile work too. They learn to ‘doodle’ on the sewing machine producing a colour toned wall hanging, eventually having the skills to stitch fabric together to make a much loved tooth fairy cushion.
