Year 3 Art

Year 3 Art

11 February 2009

Bridget Riley provides an immense body of work to interest children. Tile painting, looking at the colour wheel and composing their own illusions helps to consolidate and extend the Year 2 art curriculum. Our Monster Puppets project allows them to see design through to an end product. They include tactile fabrics and colour clashes which catch your eye and the stories revolving around their creations are very entertaining.

We look at the Impressionists and make sketches and paintings of the school buildings and grounds - armed with a clip board, the pupils love to be in situ like Monet.

Greek mythology and artefacts hold a sense of fantasy and intrigue, so we capitalise on this and integrate art and history in this topic.
