ENGLISH

Both these poems are about mystery creatures.

The Alien

The alien
Was as round as the moon.
Five legs he had
And his ears played a tune.
His hair was pink
And his knees were green,
He was the funniest thing I'd seen
As he danced in the door
Of his strange spacecraft,
He looked at me -
And laughed and laughed!

Julie Holder

1.     Write down four ways the Alien looks different to humans.
2.    Write down two sounds the Alien makes.
3.    Write down the word in the poem that rhymes with "craft".
4.    Is this Alien real?

Challenge

The Mystery Creatures

They dwell on a planet not far

          from the Sun.

Some fly through the sky, while

          others just run.

Some have big heads which are

          hairless as tin,

while others have hair which

          sprouts from their skin.

They dig food from dirt, and

          gobble dead meat.

The young squeal like pigs if you

    tickle their feet.

They slurp, burp, and grunt;

    their manners are bad.

Their eyes become waterfalls

    when they feel sad.

Well, who are these creatures?

    Can you guess who?

The answer is easy: it's you, you, and YOU.
