The boys in Year 1 have been studying the artist Henri Rousseau. They have been looking at his jungle themed work and studying the flora and fauna carefully. First the boys learnt how to do a wash for the background. They then learnt how to make different shades of green by adding white to make the colour lighter. The boys then painted the trees using water colours, being careful to paint individual leaves. Next they used their shades of green to cut out grass shapes, snipping and shaping to create a 3D effect. Finally the boys drew a tiger by studying a photograph really carefully. We hope you like the end result!
