For the first in what we hope to be a jam packed calendar of practical Saturday Art workshops, we were thrilled so many creative and enthusiastic Year 6, 7 and 8 boys chose to attend. The day started with a brief discussion about contemporary sculpture using artists such as Frank Stella for inspiration. We then explored a range of visuals based entirely around fairgrounds, carousels and the bright, sometimes clashing colours found in their shapes and typography. They all were eager to begin and, working collaboratively they decided upon a variety of shapes, and a colour palette for their wall sculpture. After much template cutting, painting, wire moulding, and copious amounts of electrical cable, every group created a composition worthy of a gallery display. A wonderful workshop, well done to all those involved.
