Reception and Year One enjoyed an alternative to Golden Time this Friday! Parents and grandparents were invited to come in to play some traditional games - it was so much fun!
There was a wide variety of games offered - all set up around the Gym and the boys got an opportunity to have a try with all of them.
A steady hand was needed for pick-up-sticks and an accurate aim to knock down skittles, loop the quoits and hit the marbles. There were opportunities to practise numbers by adding up scores, keeping a total and trying to beat a personal best!
Board games included snakes and ladders, tri-onimoes and tic-tac-toe - needing patience and a little bit of luck! More modern games were played including Frisbee Darts and Connect-4, alongside games from years gone by: a spinning 'whip-and-top', 'ha'penny shove' and elastic 'cats cradles'. We never knew we could have so much fun playing games without an 'on' button to press!
Thank you to all the mums, dads and grandparents for giving up their time and bringing such a wide range of games for us to try out. We had a very enjoyable and successful afternoon and think every week should have a 'Fun Games Friday!'
