Even the wettest summer solstice weekend could not deter Trudi and her team! The Reception and Year 1 boys arrived in their house-coloured t-shirts - many with hoodies on too - ready for action!
A last minute set-up of benches brought over from school ensured that the children did not have to sit on the wet grass as they sat in their race teams, eagerly awaiting the start of events. The children were all involved in a range of events - running, carrying an egg and spoon, jumping in sacks, holding a bean bag on a bat, climbing in and out of a hoop and dressing up on the way down the track!
Parents were out in their hats, scarves, jackets and umbrellas - ready to applaud the efforts of their boys. The spirit and excitement was wonderful - many a parent running the length of the track encouraging their athletic children!
Although the rain threatened a couple of times, all of the races were run until a torrential down pour resulted in everyone huddling under and around a tree! At that point, sadly the last event - the relay race - was called off.
Everyone went home - wet, happy and delighted with the morning's events - hopefully for a cup of hot chocolate!
