School Notices

23 June 2010

The Chairman of Governors has today, 23 June 2010, announced to Abingdon Preparatory School parents and the School community the appointment of a new Head.

I am very pleased to announce that Mr Crispin Hyde-Dunn has been appointed Head of Abingdon Preparatory School to succeed Mr Chris Davies, who takes up his post at Edgeborough School next January. Owing to his requirement to serve two terms' notice Mr Hyde-Dunn will take up his appointment in the Easter holidays 2011.  During the spring term 2011, Abingdon Prep's Deputy Head, Mike Rees, will be acting Headmaster.

Mr Hyde-Dunn is at present Deputy Head of King's College School in Cambridge. He is an historian and graduated from St Catherine's College Oxford in 1995. He has teaching experience in both the secondary and preparatory sectors, including 5 years as Head of History at New College School in Oxford and 3 years as Deputy Head in his present school. He is married to Lucy, a research fellow of St Edmund's College Cambridge. His interests include music and distance running, classic Italian cars and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

There was an exceptionally strong field of candidates to succeed Chris Davies and I am certain that Crispin Hyde-Dunn has the leadership and vision to build on the unique character of Abingdon Prep and to steer the School through the next, very exciting phase in our history.

Yours sincerely,

Jon Gabitass,

Chairman of Governors, Abingdon Preparatory School
