Oxford University Debating Masterclass

Patrick McCubbin and Thomas Morris both gained distinctions for their work and contributions to the Oxford University Debating Masterclass programmes which took place in the summer holidays 2009.

   

Cricket Success

William Bull and Old Boy Dan Matthews have both been selected to join the Gloucester County Cricket Junior Academy.  Dan also represented Oxfordshire's U13 cricketers in a tour to South Africa and Botswana over the summer
   

4 Abingdon Prep Old Boys Join Wasps Elite Squad

September 2009
Four of last year's Prep School leavers have won places in the prestigious Wasps Elite Rugby Training Squad. They are Nick Boreham who won the Sports Scholarship to Abingdon, Josh Perry who won the All-Rounder Scholarship to Radley, Jackson Burton who won the Sports Scholarship to Cokethorpe and Jonathan Lord who is now at Abingdon School.

   

Abingdon Prep Old Boys Gain Tremendous Results

August 2009
Congratulations to all the Abingdon Preparatory School Old Boys who took A levels and GCSE's at Abingdon School this year. They gained some tremendous results with the seven boys who took A levels achieving all A and B grades with 12 A grades and 9 B grades between them. The 20 boys who sat GCSE's performed extremely well notching up 150 A* or A grades in total.

   

Congratulations 2009 Leavers

Our congratulations go to all last year's Year 8 pupils who worked hard and performed extremely well at Common Entrance.  We were delighted that all the boys progressed to the secondary school of their choice.  Six of the leavers must also be commended for the awards they won including scholarships to Abingdon, Radley and Cokethorpe.  The Year 8's achievements give all of us at Abingdon Prep enormous pleasure.
   

Music Exam Success

June 2009
Our boys continue to achieve 100% pass rate in Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall music examinations. Two with merit: Noah Walker (grade 1 piano) and Ben Hutchinson (grade 1 guitar) and four with distinction: Freddie Stone (grade 1 piano), Jonathan Dawson (grade 2 trumpet), Magnus Williamson (grade 3 guitar) and William Johnson (grade 4 cello).

   

£10 000 Raised by the Prep School for Barnardo's

June 2009
The Prep School's charity for the last academic year was Dr Barnardo's and we were extremely pleased to be able to raise a sum of £10000 through hard work from boys, staff and parents.
Dr David Barnardo, OBE, the great-great nephew of Dr Thomas Barnardo, who founded 'Dr Barnardo's Homes', was the guest of honour at lunch a lunch to receive the cheque.
