YEAR 1
History/Literacy
For our History topic this term we have started to look at Houses and Homes. Draw a picture of your house and label the main features e.g. roof, door, window, chimney etc. Then write a list of the rooms that are in your house e.g. kitchen, lounge, bathroom etc.
Maths
Follow the instructions below to make coin rubbings of your four favourite coins!
1. Take your chosen coin and stick it to the table with a small piece of sellotape or Blu-tack underneath it. This is so that it can't move!
2. Place a piece of paper over the coin.
3. Use a fat wax crayon to rub or scribble fairly hard over the coin. The image of the coin should appear on the paper.
4. Do four coin rubbings. When you have finished try to add up the total amount of your four coins.
YEAR 2
The children should find out about the Viking longships. They could
look on the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/vikings/
and find out how the Viking ships were built and why they were so effective.
They should then draw a longship and label the features.
RECEPTION
Take one of your shoes and draw around it. Go really carefully, don't let the shoe move about on the page.
Take one of Mum's shoes and draw around it carefully - it might be tricky if you choose a pair of high heeled shoes!
Take on of Dad's shoes and draw around that. Which shoe do you think is the biggest?
This is a fun measuring activity for you to do at home. You might need a little help from Mum or Dad, to hold the shoe still while you draw around it. Once you have drawn the shoe shape, you can colour it in and decorate it any way you like! Cut out each shoe shape and see if you can paste them onto another sheet of paper - ordering them from smallest to biggest.
Have fun - I look forward to seeing some really creative shoe-print designs.
