A very exciting trip in search of dinosaurs was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the boys in Pre-prep. It took a lot of convincing to assure many of them that there are really no more dinosaurs on earth, let alone Oxford - especially as they discovered 'real' footprints in the grass on the way into the museum!
The excursion was extremely well organised by the museum staff, co-ordinating the three classes in a rotation, so that each class had time to explore their findings around the museum, follow a dinosaur trail or scavenger hunt, visit the museum shop and listen to a captivating talk and story from 'Chris'.
Chris fascinated the boys with his range of dinosaur voices and noises, his quick and artistic style of making a few lines on the board come to life as a fierce T-rex or a Pterosaur! He had numerous artefacts and specimens for the children to look at, hold, touch and smell. The boys were intrigued and impressed by his stories and information ... until he told them that what they had just examined was a fossilised dinosaur pooh!! The volume of knowledge and magnificent artwork that have been heard and seen in the Pre-prep department since our visit, is clear evidence of the success of the trip. Added to that has been the thrill and enthusiasm the boys have shown in the 'Dinosaur' theme in the past few weeks.
