Today Magdalen College Prep School hosted their annual U10 rugby tournament. We kicked off with a match against Windmill Primary, winning 4-0. Our second match was against Chandlings where we were pipped at the post by a solitary try. The final score was 3-2 to Chandlings. We won our third match 8 tries to nil and finished second in our pool securing a place in the semi-final against Akeley Wood. Our boys entered the match with warrior-like spirits, knowing they would need to put everything into the 15 minutes. In a moment of brilliance, executed with perfect timing, Louis burst through the defence to score the only try of the match. We won by five points to nil. The final beckoned us. Chandlings were yet again at our door. Chandlings – who were still undefeated! The APS boys were summoned to a coaching circle, a private circle where team-business is done, where hearts are stirred, and where minds are focused. Leaving the circle, we knew the task in hand, and we knew that we would run ourselves to empty in the pursuit of excellence.
