Today the U10As played the Oratory Prep School. The match started well and we took an early lead through a well worked goal. The Oratory responded quickly, scoring immediately with a beautiful goal that split our defence in half taking the score to 1 – 1. The first half was fairly even from then on, with both teams piling on the pressure in attack and defending valiantly when on the back foot. Strong play on the left side of the field meant very little went past our player. Another two boys combined well to score our second. Oratory had some superb players and one in particular who was a constant threat and scored their second goal with a well placed strike. We went into halftime with the score being 2 – 2. The second half was less eventful but certainly more gritty. For a brief time we trailed but equalised quickly with a second goal. Our goal keeper, saved the day on a number of occasions and was a commanding presence in goal. He was named man of the match for his contribution. The final result was 3 – 3 which was a fair reflection of the game on the day; a game that either team could have won in the closing minutes. Well done boys!
