On Thursday 16 March the boys and staff had a treat in store for them, a visit from the celebrity chef, James Tanner.

The visit started with an assembly with the whole school. James talked about fresh fish, how it was caught and the benefits of eating fish. This was followed up with visits to several classrooms giving the boys a chance to get up close to the fresh fish and learn more about the different types of fish found in fresh and salt waters. James then helped the kitchen staff prepare one of his signature dishes for lunch, zingy mini fishcakes with an optional taster table of Thai mackerel pate. He even had time to do some signing of recipe cards.

This was followed by a demonstration session to some of the boys. They learnt more about sustainable fish and watched him prepare and cook rosemary roast mackerel with salsa verde. They tucked into this taster dish with great enthusiasm afterwards. James definitely inspired the boys who all went home with recipe cards in hand, keen to try out the recipes themselves!
