The hall was buzzing with the excited hum of expectant voices as our inaugural Careers event got into full swing. A selection of parents arrived on the stage to offer an individual five minute pitch to the boys, in order to whet their appetites and encourage them to explore the possibilities of a career in: Spacecraft Engineering, Media & Publishing, Optometry, Law, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease Research, RAF/Commercial Pilot. Year 7 and 8 had a 10 minute time slot with each of their possible career choices with opportunities to ask questions and explore a range of resources from contact lenses, robes and medical equipment to viewing a courtroom in action and open heart surgery. We all certainly had our eyes opened to the world of work and the path it may take to arrive at our destination.
