During these bleak January days it is all the more important to embrace the anticipation of spring, and all the botanical life that surrounds growing, eating and in this case painting the variety of colours and textures that can be found in the food we eat.
After a group discussion regarding the properties of watercolours, the Year 6,7 and 8 boys explored the many way we can manipulate the media. Adding, salt, drawing with candles to create a resist and using masking fluids to reverse the colour and it's application.
After a series of experiments everyone chose their stimulus based on it's colour, or texture and began creating an accurate recording from observation. Some went further to combine several objects to create a modest still life, on which to demonstrate the variety of skills learned throughout the day.
An exceptional array of work was created, well done.
