Ashmolean Museum

25 November 2011

Year 2 enjoyed a morning of looking at a variety of paintings, focusing on the colours used. We looked at realism and abstract art. We discussed how artists use colours to show seasons and to make us focus on certain aspects of their paintings. Our tour guide showed us how different artists used different techniques, like layering and pointillism to add texture and depth. We also saw some famous artists' works, like Monet and Van Gogh. We were told that the Egyptian Exhibition will be opening soon - go see it for yourself!
