Armistice Day

Armistice 01

11 November 2011

Abingdon Preparatory School stood in silence today for two minutes to remember the fallen.

The whole school community gathered quietly in the quad for the Armistice Day ceremony. The boys were wearing their poppies and holding others they had made. A special tray had been set aside for the poppies to be laid in - 'a field', representing Flanders.

Paddy Langdale (year 7), on the trumpet, expertly marked the beginning of the silence with The Last Post and the end with The Reveille .

The Headmaster closed the ceremony with the Ode of Remembrance by Laurence Binyon.
