Admissions Procedures

Please see below the admissions procedures for each year group. If you have any queries or just want to talk through the process then please do get in touch with our Admissions team, we look forward to hearing from you.

There may be places available in some year groups for September 2018. If you are interested, please contact us by email admissions.manager@abingdonprep.org.uk or telephone +44 (0)1865 392303.

  • The first step is to contact the Admissions Manager to see whether there are places available.
  • If places are available then you will need to register your son, via our online registration system, and to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £100.
  • Play Mornings – all children are invited to attend a ‘play morning’. These are very informal and nothing to worry about. The play mornings are designed to be fun and enjoyable, and no preparation of any sort is needed. During the morning the children will join Linda, our Reception teacher and Head of Pre-Prep, Rachel, the Head of Phonics, and other Pre-Prep staff. The morning involves simple games and tasks which encourage interaction between the children.
  • In addition to the play mornings, we ask for a copy of your son’s two-year check as provided by his current nursery or pre-school setting.
  • Places are offered on the basis of the play mornings. We will also offer places on a reserve list.
  • Parents usually hear about offers of places within ten working days of the play mornings (provided all information has been received).
  • If a place is offered, parents are asked to respond by a given date provided in the offer letter.
  • Parents wishing to accept the place will be asked to sign the parent contract and pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of £500.
  • The School is happy to provide further guidance where special arrangements relating to the duty of care of the child and the payment of fees for the child are necessary.
  • Joining information will be sent to parents by email in the May before your son starts at Abingdon Prep in the September. (The timing will vary if the start date is at another time during the school year.)
  • We appreciate that starting a new school can be a little daunting for parents and children so there are plenty of opportunities to get to know the school before children join us, including an induction morning in the summer term.
  • The first two weeks in school in September have shorter days for boys joining us in Reception. This helps the children to settle without becoming too tired.
  • The first step is to contact the Admissions Manager to see whether there are places available.
  • If places are available then you will need to register your son, via our online registration system, and to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £100.
