The Debating Society today hosted a debating workshop run by experienced debaters from the Oxford Union. We welcomed visitors from Eton College, St Edward's School (Cheltenham), and Chenderit School (Banbury), as well as boys from Abingdon from the 4th form up to U6th.
Participants were given a full introduction to the format of British Parliamentary debating along with a range of strategies for constructing and attacking arguments most effectively, before participating in a live debate on the motion 'This house would legalise all drugs'. The workshop leaders were very impressed with the high quality of debate and enthusiasm of the participants. Bring on the competitions!
