Young alumni are encouraged to become very much part of the OA Club as soon as they leave School. The Club offers a wide range of events which caters to all tastes and age groups. (Young alumni are often offered discounted rates to OA events.)
Young OAs may be particularly interested to find out more about the professional networking opportunities offered by the OA Club. The career networking initiative, launched in autumn 2009, aims to provide opportunities for all OAs who share an interest in a particular profession to socialise in a congenial atmosphere. Young alumni, just beginning their professional lives, and undergraduates, still preparing to launch themselves onto the career ladder, are particularly encouraged to attend these events.
OAs are also encouraged to register for the OA members' area and to publish details of their professional interests in the online OA Directory, which can be used to establish contact with other OAs willing to volunteer careers advice.
There is a thriving official Abingdon School community on Facebook so do visit the Old Abingdonians page to help stay in touch with the Club and other OAs.
Young alumni may be particularly interested in the professional development awards offered by the OA Club.
