Please accept our apologies for a misprint in the last edition of the Griffen. The entry for Mr Stephen Woodley (1957) should read as follows.
Stephen Woodley (1957) regrets that the 40th anniversary of the first Black Paper ‘Fight for Education’, which warned against the wholesale comprehensivisation of standards, passed almost without notice in March. James Cobban and Angus Maude were among the contributors; Stephen’s article ‘Comprehensive Inadequacies’ appeared in the fifth and last Black Paper, in 1977, and subsequently he edited the Bulletin of the National Council for Educational Standards for some years.
