Friday 24 June 2011
It was fantastic to see so many Abingdon Geographers - past and present - come together to share their passion for their subject on Friday 24 June 2011. We welcomed back around 30 OAs and former members of staff for the event - a final guest list can be viewed online.
The evening began in the CMR with a thought-provoking address by Mark Lynas (High Tide: News from a warming world (2004) and Six Degrees: Our future on a hotter planet (2007)) entitled, "Are environmentalists really helping the planet?"
Unfortunately heavy rain thwarted our original hopes of enjoying drinks and a barbecue in the balmy sunshine and frangrant surroundings of the beautiful gardens outside the School's dining hall. The weather did not, however, have a dampening effect on the spirit of the event and the fond reminiscences and lively discussion continued (indoors) well into the evening.
We're very grateful to Zong Hao Tan (Lower Sixth) for acting as our photographer at this event. If you would like to receive full-sized version of any of the images, please contact the OA Office and we will put you in touch with him directly.
