In the current economic climate we believe that many of our younger OAs, and indeed the boys at School, can, and should, benefit from the experience of our more mature OAs.
With the new members’ area we hope to lay the foundations for this new OA Club initiative by establishing a cohesive programme of events for professional networking and a formal service for career mentoring. When you log-in to the members’ area you will find a whole page dedicated to collecting information about your professional experiences and what you think you may be able to offer other OAs in terms of career support. In the OA Directory you can then search for people by profession. All OAs are encouraged to publish details of their career so that we can start building up a comprehensive databank of employment information.
The first event in our professional networking series will take place on the evening of Wednesday 30 September when there will be a dinner for all those OAs who work in the profession of the law. The event will be held in the Parliament Chamber and Queen's Room at Middle Temple Inn in London and is being hosted by Sir Vivian Ramsey, OA 1968 and prominent High Court Judge.
There will be reception with pre-dinner drinks in the gardens, if the weather is kind to us, followed by a three-course formal dinner at which there will be a short address by Sir Vivian.
We will be doing our best to contact all known law professionals during the course of July to inform them of the dinner directly. If you would like to attend the dinner, please do get in touch with us to make sure that you receive an invitation.
